Handicap

It will be Elena Soldati and Gianni Padlina, experienced thanks to maturation in the humanitarian field, to attend the thematic of handicap.

Africa still has a high percentage of people who suffer from physical disabilities, in part due to the bi-products of poverty: malnutrition, lack of proper hygiene and health care and regional conflicts.

Poliomyelitis, a disease that has been eradicated in the West, is only one of the many causes of disabilities.

Disabled children are socially considered  aimless and it happens that the family itself beats them away. They often grow up without scholastic education, because the schools are far away and are approachable with difficulties only. Their only resource is panhandling.

In Senegal there is a lack of infrastructures that care for the disabled, the specialized personnel is insufficient and there is a perpetual lack of funds to allocate to clinics and assistance.

To address this problem, "if.." is working on the project Ma Maison, a polyvalent structure designed exactly to handicapped people.
